About Trajva
Trajva was created as a way to keep a part of my culture alive, ‘Trajva’ the Gujarati word for tattoos, driving from the Kathiyawadi dialect, the language mainly spoken in the Gujarat region of India more specific around the Porbandar area which is a coastal city. These types of tattoos are mostly common within the Mer, Rabari and Ahir communities, being tribal marks, they hold a lot of significance for many. Due to modernisation and migration, the art of ‘Trajva’ have become a dying tradition, the purpose of this project is to preserve the designs through the art of fashion.
